Classic Design Tarot Review

Classic Design Tarot
by: Dionysus

This is another one of my favorite tarot decks that I reach for daily. As you can see, the box shows signs of wear and tear from frequent use. The deck features the classic Rider-Waite imagery with a light-colored backing, maintaining a simple yet timeless design. The cards are larger, standard tarot size, and come packaged in a paper box along with a comprehensive guidebook from Magicseer.

There isn’t much to say beyond the fact that traditional decks are my personal favorites. The original imagery is unmatched.

This deck doesn’t have any particular differences or unique features that set it apart from the myriad of other tarot decks—except for its adherence to the classic style. For me, this traditional approach is simply what I prefer.

The original Rider-Waite artwork holds a special place in the tarot community due to its deep symbolism and historical significance. Each image in this classic deck is meticulously crafted to convey a wealth of meaning, drawn from the rich tradition of tarot symbolism that has been studied and interpreted for over a century. This consistency allows readers to connect with the deck on a profound level, using imagery that has stood the test of time to inform their readings. The clarity and depth of the original artwork also make it easier to convey the nuances of each card’s meaning, providing a strong foundation for both novice and experienced readers alike.

Moreover, the Rider-Waite imagery offers a sense of continuity and familiarity that can be comforting and grounding. For many, this deck represents the core of tarot study and practice, serving as a reference point that links modern practices with historical roots. Using the original artwork can foster a deeper connection to the tarot tradition, enriching the reading experience and enhancing one’s understanding of tarot as a timeless tool for insight and guidance.
