Everyday Tarot Review
Everyday Tarot
by: Brigit Esselmont and Eleanor Grosch
This purple tarot deck, featuring minimalist designs, is a compact mini deck. I find that mini decks are excellent for clarification, allowing you to overlay smaller cards onto larger ones, making it easier to see the bigger picture.
The deck is packaged in a plastic case and comes with a substantial guidebook. The small cards are adorned with gilded edges, adding a touch of elegance. However, the only drawback I’ve encountered is with shuffling—because I prefer using ‘jumpers’ in my readings, the cards tend to stick together, making it difficult for them to jump freely.
The cards are compact, adorned with elegant purple and gold imagery. The artwork employs a minimalist, blocky-silhouette style that effectively conveys the traditional meanings. I admire how the artist has infused her unique vision while preserving the essence of each card’s message.
The designs are breathtakingly elegant and visually captivating. Brigit Esselmont, the founder of Biddy Tarot, one of the foremost tarot resources online, has truly selected the ideal artist to bring her deck to life.
Although I have a preference for the classic Rider-Waite imagery, I appreciate the creativity artists bring to tarot. While many modern interpretations deviate significantly from tradition, this deck remains faithful to the original designs. It offers an abstract perspective, almost like a Warhol-inspired take on tarot.
Even without the titles, the imagery is so well-executed that you could easily identify each card—testament to the quality of the depictions.
This deck holds a special place in my collection, and I believe it’s a must-have for any tarot enthusiast. Whether you’re new to tarot or a seasoned reader, the timeless appeal of this deck is something that can enrich any collection.
