Runes Oracle Deck Review

Runes Oracle Deck
by Ibiza
25 Cards

This well-loved oracle deck includes 25 Nordic runes, each with multiple meanings. These runes can serve as clarifiers or additional messages, or be used in a 3-card spread to represent the past, present, and potential future outcomes. Though the deck is compact, the variety of meanings offers a wealth of possibilities.

I ended up with a tiny version of the deck after a bargain hunt on Temu, which I regret. I’ve since learned to check card sizes before ordering, as I would have much preferred the larger version.

These all-black cards are adorned with Nordic designs, featuring white text alongside each rune symbol.

Each rune is presented with a primary concept followed by multiple interpretations. For instance, the rune “Mannaz” is described as “The self; the individual or the human race,” and further elaborates on “Your attitude toward others and their attitudes towards you. Friends and enemies, social order.”

I’ve incorporated these cards not as clarifiers but as additional messages to enhance my tarot readings. With their multiple interpretations, they bring a wealth of potential meaning to any spread. Despite the deck’s small size, it adds a significant layer of depth and richness to each reading.

I find myself wishing I had the actual rune stones to pair with these cards. I’m seriously considering getting a set.

The deck includes an extra card that explains “The Three Rune Layout.” In this spread, you randomly select three runes and place them from right to left (with Rune 1 on the right).

Rune 1 offers an overview of your situation, Rune 2 highlights the obstacle or challenge, and Rune 3 suggests a possible course of action.

For instance, the current situation might involve a family dynamic spanning multiple generations—grandchildren, parents, and grandparents. The obstacle could be the disregard of advice from elders, and the suggested action might be to establish boundaries for those who are not listening to the guidance.
