Universal Tarot Review
Universal Tarot
by: Roberto de Angelis
This deck features reimagined images inspired by the original Rider-Waite, presenting the same familiar scenes with a fresh artistic twist. It’s called “Universal” because each card includes multiple languages.
The deck comes packaged in a paper box along with a guidebook. The cards are generously sized and easy to handle. The guidebook, however, is a bit puzzling—it lists only five languages, despite six being present on the cards, and includes five sections in each language, with one section mislabeled and another missing entirely.
I found this deck at a small metaphysical shop in the mountains of New Hampshire.
The top of each card features English, French, Spanish, and Italian, while German and Dutch appear at the bottom.
Interestingly, the guidebook lists only five languages, omitting German. The table of contents also mentions five sections, with the last labeled as Dutch—yet it’s actually in German.
Take a look at how seamlessly the images align with the original artwork. These are the same scenes, reinterpreted by a different artist.
This deck preserves all the small yet meaningful details, like the infinity sign above the Magician, the world portal beneath the Ace of Pentacles, and the dove in the Ace of Cups. Everything remains intact.
I appreciate the inclusion of multiple languages, making the deck accessible worldwide. It’s perfect to take along on your travels around the globe!
This deck is truly a collector’s gem. The artistry is exquisite, and the artist has captured every detail perfectly. It’s a must-have for any tarot collection.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
